Floods are one of the largest natural disaster in the country. If it rains, it can flood, which can leave a homeowner unprepared for damage. Flood is not covered under a homeowners policy and is an addition to an existing homeowners policy. Although, California does not require flood insurance it is important to have.
Flood Coverage will cover
* Overflow of inland or tidal waters
* Unusual and rapid accumulation or runoff of surface waters from any source
* Mudflow (River of liquid and flowing mud on the surfaces of normally dry land areas such as when earth is carried by a current of water)
* Landslide, slope failures, or saturated soil moving down a slope are not mudflows.
Coverage Excludes
* Earthquake
* Landslide
* Land subsidence
* Sinkholes
* Destabilization or movement of land resulting from accumulation of water
* Gradual erosion
Earthquakes are common and will happen in California. The damage that is caused after an earthquake can be devastating. Homeowners, renters, and condominium insurance policies DO NOT cover damage from natural disasters such as earthquakes, floods, and landslides.
Know the types of earthquake insurance that is available, the three common are
* Dwelling (this includes the home)
* Personal property coverage
* Additional living expenses or loss of use
Like all insurances there are exclusions in what is covered. Below are common exclusions which will not be covered in the event of an earthquake.

* Vehicles
